Asustek Plans To Invest 10mn Dollar In Manufacturing Facility

In order to broadbase its business, Taiwanese IT hardware products Company Asustek Computers mulls to initially infuse between 7.5 million dollar and 10 million dollar in a manufacturing facility here. Since the Indian market is price-driven, the company will increase its investments depending upon its market presence. The company is in the final stages of deciding on its manufacturing base in the country. Infrastructure and quality labour were the main factors it was considering. The company will be unveiling PCs with features addressing needs of the education and government sector in the next fiscal.

It was looking to manufacture these PCs in the country for the domestic market. While in the LCD monitor market, Asus is a small player, it has about 60 per cent market share in the domestic motherboard market. It is also in negotiation with telecom companies for sale of its networking equipment for broadband and with operators for unveiling Wimax on a national scale in the next fiscal.
